G&Z is the pioneer in designing and manufacturing large, high-production canal construction equipment. These specialized machines are engineered to build everything from massive power channels over 100 m (330 ft) wide across the top, to smaller main irrigation canals with bottom widths and depths of just 2.5 m (8 ft). Typical canal side slopes range from 1.5:1 and 2:1 to as flat as 4.5:1, depending on soil conditions, design requirements, and hydraulic performance.

The canal’s size and available concrete supply determine whether trimming and lining can be achieved in a single pass (Full Span Configuration) or require two or more passes (Half Span or Half Span and Flat Configurations). The choice between full span and half span paving depends on several factors, including canal bottom width, overall periphery, ground conditions, schedule, and available embankment width at the canal top.

G&Z offers the 3800, 2500, and 1700 Canal Equipment Series and provides expert guidance to help you select the right series for your project. Key considerations in the selection of what series equipment is needed includes your current and future canal sizes, desired production rates, and available concrete supply. Once the maximum concrete delivery rate is established, the trimming capacity, delivery system, and liner distribution system can be matched accordingly. Concrete distribution components and bucket configurations are then specified to achieve your targeted output.
