Large Canal Liner

The G&Z Canal Liner is available in both two- and four-track configurations, with self-moving options for maximum efficiency. It can even be converted in the future for use as a highway or airport paver, extending the value of your investment.  Each machine is tailored to your project: jacking columns, crawler tracks, truss main frame, power unit, and conveyor widths are selected to match your maximum future canal periphery, target concrete or base/filter production rates, and the delivery system used to meter material to the Liner and your intended hauling truck.

To ensure material stays on the slopes, off the front of the Liner is included a liquification hopper positioned ahead of the slipform pan. Divided into compartments approximately 36 in. (1 m) wide, the hopper uses individual high-frequency poker vibrators to liquefy the concrete (or wet base/filter) and ensure uniform placement across the front of the Liner. Off the back of the Liner frame, a rear walkway with stairs provides safe access for checking lining thickness, finishing, and forming joints. Optional equipment includes:

  • Hydraulic joint cutter (“Guillotine”) – Vibrates and forms transverse contraction joints. The system automatically cycles and pauses the Liner during cutting and vibrating; hand finishing is required.

  • Keel bars – Integrated into the slipform pan for forming longitudinal contraction joints at specified locations.

  • PVC joint installation systems – Available for both preformed PVC transverse and longitudinal joint materials, ideal for high-production lining operations.

Drawing on decades of experience, G&Z has found that its concrete wiper conveyor system is the most flexible and efficient method for distributing concrete, base, or filter material into the Liner liquification hopper — especially on long slopes. These conveyors can be scaled to achieve production rates from 60 to 600 cy/h (45 to 470 m³/h). Output is typically limited only by:

  • The practical production of the concrete plant

  • Type and number of delivery trucks

  • Material transfer method used to meter concrete to the wiper conveyor

  • Joint forming and finishing operations
