Large Canal Jumbo

Since the early days of canal lining, a separate work bridge (or Jumbo) has been essential for finishing concrete and applying curing compound to the canal surface. Specialized Jumbos are also used for inserting and finishing preformed PVC transverse contraction joints and assisting in laying prefabricated reinforcing steel mats.

While Jumbos are sometimes equipped with rubber tires, they are typically furnished with two- or four-crawler tracks, with self-moving options for maximum efficiency. The crawler tracks, truss frame, and power unit are designed to match your maximum future canal periphery. Although automatic elevation control is generally not required, manual hydraulic jacking columns can be added to maintain the working platform or cure spray hood at a fixed height, and to accommodate varying canal depths or haul road conditions.

G&Z Jumbos feature a heavy-duty truss frame built to withstand repeated moving and handling over the machine’s lifetime. Wide access walkways, typically located at the front and rear of the truss frame, allow workers to safely access the concrete surface.

Concrete finishing is performed off the front of the Jumbo.
-
Curing compound application is performed off the rear.

In most projects, one Jumbo is sufficient behind the concrete Liner. For slightly higher concrete production the Jumbo can be equipped with an optional spray bar and spray hood. For high production lining operations, a separate Curing Jumbo is often added, equipped with a spray bar and spray hood.
