G&Z Brings S600 with New Features to Bauma 2013

Ripon, California U.S.A. January 29, 2013 – Guntert & Zimmerman (G&Z) is proud to take part in Bauma 2013 (Stand 1013/3 (Open Air Area F10)) with its S600: Multi-Purpose Concrete Slipform Paver.  The S600 has taken the US market by storm since its domestic introduction at CONEXPO/CONAGG 2011 and has continued to grab market share internationally since its debut at Intermat 2012. At Bauma 2013, the S600 will be equipped with several new and innovative features that will offer international contractors more productivity and more available paving time during the year.

S600: Multi-Purpose Slipform Paver

Where Does the G&Z S600 Fit in the Market? – As the market continues to make the shift from large dual lane, mainline paving jobs to smaller cut-up projects, the S600 is designed to fulfill the need for a small or medium, versatile, multi-purpose paver that retains the ability to achieve good smoothness numbers.  The S600 has been engineered to make contractors more productive.  Its time saving options provide the contractor with the opportunity for more paving hours in the day and more paving days during the season.

S600 Applications – The S600 Multi-Purpose Concrete Slipform Paver is in a “Hybrid Class” of its own by straddling both the “Single Lane” and “Mid-Size” paver classes.  It is ideal for city streets, secondary roads, highway and airport paving, as well as a wide range of other applications such as barrier walls, off-set paving and zero or minimum clearance paving, and canal lining. Now paving contractors can have it all in one paver.  The G&Z engineering department is continuously designing new and innovative attachments and features for the S600.

S600 Demo: Out of Many, Two Key Features – AccuSteer: Slew Drive Track Control System is powered by hydraulic motor driven, hourglass worm gear technology which provides long life, high steering accuracy and extremely high maneuverability.  With AccuSteer, the paver operator can independently rotate the crawler tracks almost a full circle allowing unparalleled maneuverability on the job site including 90 Degree Steering, Counter Rotation and Rapid Swing Leg Relocation without the need to re-pin traditional steering cylinders or reset steering transducers.  Working in tandem with AccuSteer, SmartLeg allows the paver operator or ground person to adjust the crawler track location while stationary or change the swing leg angle on the fly while automatically keeping the crawler tracking straight ahead. Provided hydraulic cylinders on the swing legs and a transducer to measure the swing leg angle coordinate electronically with the crawler track angle measuring transducer.  SmartLeg allows the user to maneuver the crawler track around obstacles in its path or existing concrete slabs and also semi-automates the process of transforming the S850SL in the transport configuration.  Both of these features will be demoed in the booth.

EGON: Equipment Guidance &
Operation Network

EGON Introduction – Guntert & Zimmerman (G&Z) EGON: Equipment Guidance and Operation Network is a Next Generation Plus+1 Operator Control System that incorporates user friendly operator features and state of the art network controllers to allow superior ease of use, extensive onboard and remote monitoring and diagnostic capability.  G&Z’s first engineering goal is to manufacture paving equipment that “Maximizes Available Paving Time and Minimizes Everything Else”. The G&Z software engineering team has designed EGON to meet this standard. It has never been easier to operate, reconfigure, diagnose, and manage a piece of concrete paving equipment. EGON is available on all G&Z slipform paving equipment models.  More information will be available as the show gets closer.  EGON will be demoed in the booth.

NoLine: Stringless Preparation Package

NoLine: Stringless Preparation Kit can be included as an option on all G&Z Pavers and Support Equipment. NoLine is comprised of a software upgrade and a hardware kit. The NoLine Software Upgrade integrates the use of stringless technology directly into the machine's CANBus network. The NoLine Hardware Kit provides telescopic masts for the total station prisms (only necessary on pavers) and battery backup. NoLine makes paving stringless easy through reliable, proven and integrated software.  NoLine will be installed in partnership with Leica Geosystems on the S600 at Bauma.

TeleEnd: Telescopic Paving Kit End Section

Today’s competitive market requires contractors to have the ability to change widths rapidly to meet ever tightening production schedules without sacrificing pavement smoothness. G&Z’s TeleEnd: Telescopic Paving Kit End Section allows the contractor to perform paving kit width changes rapidly without removing bolts or use of cranes and with just a one or two person crew.  Each Telescopic End Section gives the contractor 915mm (or 1.83m for both sides) of quick width change capability with G&Z Slipform Pavers.  A width change which could typically take a four person crew no less than 6 to 10 hours can now be performed by one or two people in less than two hours.  The TeleEnds can be specified as an option during the purchase of a new G&Z Slipform Paver or can be retrofitted to any existing G&Z Slipform Paver. And it keeps on getting better—G&Z has released its New TeleEndXL which now offers 1.25m of quick width change capability per side or 2.5m for both sides.
